Google Launches AI Mode: A Conversational Search Experience Powered by Gemini 2.0

Google has introduced AI Mode, a new Search Labs experiment that transforms traditional search into a conversational experience. Powered by a custom Gemini 2.0 model, this feature aims to make web searches more interactive and intuitive.

AI Mode leverages a query fan-out technique, which simultaneously searches diverse sources to assemble detailed, well-reasoned answers. Users can ask follow-up questions directly within the interface, receiving curated responses with relevant links for further exploration.

In addition to AI Mode, Google has enhanced its AI Overviews feature using Gemini 2.0. This upgrade improves responses to complex topics like coding, advanced math, and multimodal queries. Google is also expanding access to AI Overviews, making it available to teens and removing sign-in requirements.

As the search landscape evolves in the AI era, Google faces increasing competition from rivals like Perplexity, Grok, and ChatGPT. AI Mode represents a bridge between traditional search and advanced conversational AI, offering users a more comfortable yet powerful web experience.
